I have a tattoo on the back of my arm in Arabic th I have a tattoo on the back of my arm in Arabic that says taeayush- coexist. I got it 4 years ago at the end of my very first trip to Morocco. The first question I always get asked about Morocco is “is it safe?” My answer to this is: no where is safe. We live in a world that is crumbling at the seams, p andemics, war, hate and violent crime. But do you know where you’re least safe? In your comfort zone. Sure, you might be safe from petty crime, travel incidents, or whatever else happens in the world, but never leaving the safety of home brings you into danger of living a life without the presence and beauty of other cultures. You’re in danger of spending your life ignorant of the wonder and life that exists within other cultures. Morocco is safe. I have never felt more welcomed in a country than I have in Morocco. Sure, things are different here than at home. You have to haggle when you shop. You should dress more modestly than you would at home. The people fast during Ramadan. Men wear dresses (djellabah) and the language and script sound nothing like our own. When you fear a trip to Morocco, you are living without the mentality of taeayush- without the coexistence we as humanity need. You miss the opportunity to live a life in love with cultures that aren’t our own, and to have respect for alternative methods of living compared to those we are familiar with. I encourage you with everything in my being - mind and body- to visit Morocco. It’s a place of laughter, music, dancing, culture and warm welcomes. Every time I visit it’s a pilgrimage, and when you are ready to plan yours, I will be here, ready for you. In 2018, I was 2 years into blogging. I wanted to In 2018, I was 2 years into blogging. I wanted to be what the world was calling an influencer - I looked up to people with beautiful photos, amazing presets and hundreds of thousands of followers that wanted to share travel and the good in the world. I wanted to badly to stay @lamamouniamarrakech - but there was no way it was within my budget, i was doubtful they would even let me inside to have a drink. So I backpacked my way through Morocco - reaching out to different brands, hoteliers, and tour companies to collaborate and experience Morocco authentically. We stayed 18 fabulous days- and though the trip was a budget friendly one, for everything I had done before it felt luxurious. Flash forward 4 years and I’m staying two nights at the hotel I never dreamed I would. It might seem small, but to me it’s amazing. The path I thought I would take didn’t happen. That’s ok. This one is even better. I have so many role models and so many people who have shaped my life. I’ve learned things from many beautiful souls who calls themselves influencers, entrepreneurs and business owners. I’ve also been swindled by a bad one. It’s so important to slow down and smell the roses, enjoy the times around us- sit with the people, drink the whisky, dance to the music. Im currently living in what 22 year old me only dreamed. So while for the moment im going to pop a bottle (or pour a glass) and celebrate- this only encourages me to keep dreaming. #TravelWithTique #explorateurtravel #reinventtravel #thebohodoesmorocco
